Betty Wiseman has been a part of Belmont University’s athletic program for five decades. She graduated from Belmont (Nashville, Tennessee) in 1965 and helped start the women’s basketball program, one of the first female teams not only in the state but in the Southeast region.

As head coach, Wieseman compiled a 248-152 record in her 16 seasons. In 1981, she was inducted into the Belmont Athletics Hall of Fame, and in 2004 she was inducted into the Tennessee Hall of Fame. Known as “Belmont Betty,” Wiseman continues to be an important contributor to Belmont Athletics as the assistant AD/senior woman administrator.

Today on the podcast, we get to meet “Belmont Betty” and hear her powerful story of Christ in her life, starting a women’s basketball program at Belmont, and why sports is such a great place to live out the Gospel.
