Dale Earnhardt Jr. welcomes the birth of his daughter Isla Rose Earnhardt

Former NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy announced the birth of their first child, Isla Rose Earnhardt, Tuesday morning after giving birth Monday night.

Before the Earnhardt’s new addition was added to the family, Dale spoke last week about the pending birth on his podcast “The Dale Jr. Download.”

“Me and Amy have been getting the house ready,” Earnhardt said. “We have no clue what we’re doing. This is our first baby.

“We have been told by everybody that has taken the opportunity or taken the moment to tell us that we have no idea what we’re doing and that we can prepare all we want, we’ll never be ready and get all the sleep right now we can get right now.”

Just a couple of days into fatherhood Earnhardt Tweeted about his love for his new daughter.

Earnhardt Jr., now an analysis for NBC Sports, took his love of racing from his father Dale Earnhardt Sr.

One of the traditions that he copied from his father was to get a Bible verse from Stevie Waltrip, wife of racing legend Darrell Waltrip, and place it in his race car before the start of every race.

Amy, would post a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #SteviesVerse.

Now the Earnhardt’s have a chance to continue the tradition with their daughter Isla.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
