In the movie Field of Dreams, there’s a moment at the end where Ray realizes that all he’s ever wanted in life is to simply have a catch with his Dad.

Baseball provides those simple memories of connecting with the young generation. As a Dad of a softball player, my daughter and I consistently have a catch out in the yard. It’s in that moment that I feel connected to her in a way that only sports can accomplish.

On Sunday, Arizona Diamondbacks players Oscar Hernandez and Brandon Drury provided that connection with a young fan and gave him a memory that will live with him forever.

It’s in that moment where a young boy plays catch with Major League Baseball players that sports truly does connect people.

Well done Arizona Diamondbacks. Well done indeed.
