“Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests.” — Proverbs 14:4

Keep Swinging!

Most people familiar even a little bit with baseball, along with many who are not, know Babe Ruth as one of the greatest American hitters of all time. He led the league in home runs during a season 12 times and dominated the era in which he played.

But many might not realize that Babe Ruth also struck out 1,330 times at bat. That fact may not be emphasized quite so much when compared to his laundry list of accomplishments on the field.

Just because we accept Christ into our life as our Lord and Savior does not mean life will always flow smoothly, and all bad situations will soon be resolved neatly and tied up with a pretty bow. Messes, failures and strikeouts will always remain a part of this earthly life.

Jesus warns, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The Lord advises us to keep moving forward and not be overcome by the messes of life. Often, our greatest triumphs eventually come from persevering through initial failures. Don’t expect life to always be neat and tidy, but expect God to bring an eventual reward to your life as you stay faithful to Him and His Word. Keep swinging.
