Today is a great day simply because you are alive! You may be dealing with sorrows, fears, frustrations and even failures, but the Lord has provided you another great opportunity to live for Him as you enjoy the life He has given you today.

James 4:13-14 warns us, “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

Yesterday is gone, no matter what happened. Good or bad, it’s over. There’s nothing you can do to change it. And tomorrow is coming; there’s nothing you can do about it. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

It’s today that counts more than anything else. So don’t get hung up on the past or distracted by the future, because what you do today is what’s most important right now. Like each possession, pitch, at-bat, down or serve, each day of your life is unique and precious. It deserves your full appreciation and complete attention. Be present in the day and in the moment, and live for God’s glory!
