WNBA basketball phenom Caitlin Clark set the league’s single-game assist record with 19 in July 2024. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of the United States broke her own world record to win the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the 2024 Olympics, winning a gold medal in a time of 50.37 seconds. The University of Oklahoma broke the Division-I softball record for wins in a row by winning 53 straight in 2023, and the team added 18 more consecutive victories in 2024 for an all-time record winning streak of 71.

It seems records are made to be broken. In the world of sports, even the most monumental records are simply milestones waiting to be surpassed when the next great athlete or team comes along and sets the bar a little higher. Every record, no matter how untouchable it seems, is just a temporary benchmark.

But, unlike sports, there is one thing in life that is constant and unbreakable. In a world of brokenness, Jesus’ love for us is simply unbreakable. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

In an ever-changing world, Romans 8:38-39 solidifies God’s unbreakable love for us: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

No matter how broken you are in your life, no matter what your circumstances are, no matter where you have been or what you have been through or will go through, Jesus loves you with an “unbreakable” love that is constant and unchanging.

I challenge you today to let these truths in Romans 8 be not merely scriptures you recite, but a reality you live. Let them change the way you think, the choices you make, and every part of your life with the knowledge that the love of Christ Jesus for you is simply unbreakable.
