“She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.’” — Mark 5:26-28

She had nothing left. No money. No answers. No community. This woman had suffered for 12 years, was physically and emotionally drained, and rejected by society. Every attempt to fix herself had failed, and now, her last ounce of hope was crawling through a crowd just to touch the edge of Jesus’ robe (see Mark 5:25-34).
Athletes know what it feels like to hit a wall. You’ve rehabbed the injury, followed the plan, visualized the comeback, but your body still won’t respond. Or worse, the coach’s trust is gone, and you’re on the bench wondering if your shot will ever come again. You can’t grind your way out of everything. Some moments require surrender.
This woman didn’t have any strength left. All she had was the belief that He did. “If I can put a finger on his robe,” she thought, “I can get well” (Mark 5:28, MSG). And she was right. The same Jesus who healed others made her whole. But He didn’t stop there. He stopped the crowd, pulled her from anonymity, and called her “Daughter.” Her faith didn’t just heal her body; it restored her identity.
She trusted Him to do what she couldn’t, and in return, He gave her more than she ever imagined.
Reflection: Where in your life have you tried everything, and now need to trust Jesus to do what you can’t?
