Kirby Puckett, idolized by ’80s and ’90s youth, was no stranger to prosperity. Puckett was the fourth baseball player in the 20th century to record 1,000 hits in his first five full calendar years in Major League Baseball, and was the second to record 2,000 hits during his first ten full calendar years.  A hall-of-fame player, Puckett retired at age 36 due to a medical condition that left him blind in one eye.

We are taught as youngsters to keep our eye on the ball. Adulthood requires us to keep our eyes on Jesus. How do we learn this truth?  A parent, pastor, or neighbor may pass along this knowledge to us. In turn, we pass this truth on to others in our circle of influence.

When the time drew near for King David to die, he gave this charge to his son Solomon. A life of obedience leads to prosperity in all that you do or wherever you turn. This passage shows the reader God’s succession plan, through David, for the throne in Israel.  We aren’t raising kings and queens, or relinquishing any thrones, but our children, friends, and neighbors need to hear this truth.

Will you be the one to keep the succession plan going in your community? It’s an inheritance richer than any ear has heard or eye has ever seen.
