Titans QB Marcus Mariota apologizes to media after Mom says he was rude to reporters

Titans QB Marcus Mariota was frustrated after a loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. The third-year signal caller said he was “pissed off” after going 16 of 31 or 159 yards with 2 interceptions and zero touchdowns in the 12-7 loss to Arizona.

On Wednesday, Mariota met with reporters and immediately apologized for how he talked to them postgame on Sunday.

“I want to say I am sorry for the way I handled the press conference,” Mariota said to begin Wednesday’s media availability. “I know not everybody that was there is here. But I was rude and inappropriate, and I just want to say I apologize for it.”

His apology stemmed from feedback he got from one of the most important people in his life, his mother.

“I got an earful from my mom,” Mariota said Wednesday. “That’s how I was raised and I appreciate you guys for understanding.”

The Titans travel to San Francisco to face the 49ers on Sunday. Tennessee is currently in the fifth spot for the AFC playoffs and just one game back of the Jaguars for the first place in the AFC South.

As believers in Christ, we are called to own up to our mistakes and ask for repentance, to ask for forgiveness and to turn and walk the other way. Mariota did just that on Wednesday.

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” – James 5:16
