“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” — Luke 15:7
Time To Celebrate
I was 10 years old when the Detroit Tigers won the 1984 World Series. I loved that team. I knew every player on the roster and all their stats. I listened to every game on the radio, and if they were on TV I watched it. When they won the big one I was rejoicing. It was time to party!
But that celebration is nothing compared to the celebration in Heaven when a sinner repents and comes to Jesus. I don’t think we spend enough time thinking about that precious truth. Heaven has a party when a sinner comes home! We should party too! We need to celebrate when we have an answered prayer and a loved one finally comes to Jesus.
For years we prayed for my husband’s grandfather. Two years ago he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given a very short time to live. The day after his diagnosis, he finally gave his heart to the Lord. We had five bittersweet weeks with him before he left this earth to be with his newfound Heavenly Savior. What joy! What a celebration! He was home!
If you are praying for a loved one to come to Jesus, do not give up! Keep praying! And when you know someone who does come to Jesus, throw a party. Celebrate! Heaven is!
Heavenly Father, help us to never give up on someone. And help us to celebrate like Heaven does when someone does come to know You as Lord and Savior.
