It’s official: top NFL quarterback prospect Trevor Lawrence has tied the knot.

On Saturday, Lawrence and longtime girlfriend Marissa Mowry held a wedding ceremony at a chapel in Bluffton, S.C., the same state where Mowry played soccer for Anderson University and Lawrence became a football superstar during his three seasons at Clemson University.

Lawrence and Mowry, both 21, have been together for roughly six years after first meeting in eighth grade and attending Cartersville High School in Georgia together. They announced their engagement last July in a touching proposal that took place on the field at Clemson Memorial Stadium.
They were married by Dan Lian, a teaching pastor at NewSpring Church in Anderson, S.C., who has mentored Lawrence during his time at Clemson. Lian, who is from Australia, didn’t realize Lawrence’s celebrity status when they first met, but as the two bonded over conversations that grew from surface-level talks to deeper discussions on faith, identity and purpose, Lian enjoyed seeing Lawrence’s growth.
“It really was a big thing for him to start reconciling in his heart that even though he wanted to excel in football and he was graced with the ability to play it, that life was bigger,” Lian said in the Fall 2020 issue of Sports Spectrum Magazine. “That purpose was deeper. It was really cool to be able to see God do some really cool stuff in his heart once he started really coming to a revelation of his identity.”
Lian added later, “I have done youth and young adult — basically college-aged — ministry for the best part of 24 years. I haven’t met someone who was as kind, authentic, humble, consistent as Trevor.”
“I put my identity in what Christ says, who He thinks I am and who I know that He says I am,” Lawrence said in September 2018. “Like I said, it really does not matter what people think of me or how good they think I play. That does not really matter. That has been a big thing for me, in my situation, just knowing that and having confidence in that.”
In September 2019, Lawrence reflected on his abilities as a gift from God.
“I don’t think anyone has abilities for no reason,” Lawrence told Sports Illustrated. “I don’t think anything is coincidence. God gave me these things for a reason, not just talent on the field, but other opportunities to be a light to people.”
Mowry is also deeply committed to her walk with the Lord, stating after she committed to Anderson that it was God who led her there.
“I just felt at home when I was there,” she said. “I love the team and the girls and it’s an amazing program and school where I feel I can grow my walk with God.”
She also describes herself as a “Daughter of the king” on Instagram and lists the Bible verse Psalm 93:4 on Twitter.

April may have even more in store for the 2019 national champion and his new bride.
Lawrence is widely considered the best of the bunch in a 2021 NFL draft class loaded with talent. He is the presumptive No. 1 overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in this month’s draft, which will be held in Cleveland, Ohio, from April 29 to May 1.
Lawrence will not attend the draft, choosing instead to watch with family and friends at Clemson.
