“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” — John 1:14

I was watching a documentary on the challenges of being a 7-foot-tall NBA player. A twin size mattress is only 75 inches long, while a king size mattress is 80 inches long. A king size mattress is still four inches too short for a 7-foot NBA player; their feet or head would be over the edge.
Furthermore, the average door in a home is also 80 inches high. Every time this NBA player went from room to room, he would have to duck. This documentary showed how hard it is to house someone so large.
Now imagine trying to build a house for God. Obviously, you can’t build a house for God. Though the temple was called a house of God, it could not house an infinite, eternal, omnipresent God. But in the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle, God’s glorious presence rested (Exodus 40:34-35). It was a reminder that God was present with His people. He was with them and would lead them.
John 1:14 says that God took on human form and literally tabernacled among us. Jesus left His Heavenly tabernacle and tabernacled among us. God walked, talked, ate and slept among us. He was present. And now, as Christians, we enjoy the presence of God. He is with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
So today, be aware, wherever you go, that Jesus is with you. He is your tabernacle.
