SS PODCAST: 'Cadillac' Williams on coaching as his ministry, leaving a legacy at Auburn

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING CARNELL “CADILLAC” WILLIAMS

Carnell “Cadillac” Williams is Auburn’s associate head coach and running backs coach. The former NFL running back was hired by Auburn in January 2019 by the Tigers’ coach at the time, Gus Malzahn. In 2022, after Auburn fired Bryan Harsin in October, Williams was named interim head coach. He was retained as an assistant by Auburn’s new head coach, Hugh Freeze, when Freeze was hired in November.

Williams excelled as a player at Auburn, teaming with Ronnie Brown to form one of the most dynamic running back duos in college football history. Following his college career, Williams was selected fifth overall in the 2005 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay. Williams was named Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing for 1,178 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie. He went on to play six seasons with the Bucs and one with the Rams before retiring in 2011.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Cadillac Williams about his strong faith in Christ, coaching as a ministry, and seeing players on his team get baptized in 2022.
