ESPN's Sam Ponder says God 'provided real peace' during baby's emergency surgery

Less than a week after she announced the birth of her daughter, Price, ESPN’s Samantha Ponder revealed on Instagram that the newborn needed “emergency surgery in the middle of the night” due to a “series of terrifying and sudden events.”

Surgery was a success, however, and Price is now healthy.

In her post announcing the news, Ponder credited God for orchestrating the hands behind Price’s operation — and for soothing both her and her husband, former NFL quarterback Christian Ponder, along the way.

“We are home now, still recovering, but overwhelmed with thankfulness for a God who provided real peace and comfort in the midst of our worst nightmare,” Ponder wrote, “(as well as for) incredible surgeons, doctors and nurses, parents who didn’t hesitate to jump on a plane and help and the prayers of friends and family who believed for her healing.”

Price is the Ponders’ third child, announced by Samantha through an Instagram-shared prayer featuring 1 Corinthians 6:20:

For God bought you with a high price. So honor Him with your body and spirit.”
