A History Worth Proclaiming

In 2008 and 2010, the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics continued their storied NBA rivalry meeting in the NBA Finals. The media was salivating over the matchup and history buffs alike were having flashbacks of the 60’s and 80’s.

But the players didn’t want any of it. Instead, they downplayed the rivalry and said that it was irrelevant. If the players were genuine about their apathy, it’s a shame, really. For the media’s and fan’s sake, it’s frustrating that the players couldn’t see this matchup’s historical significance.

However, we also tend to forget our history when it comes to the Christian walk. Although it’s important to not dwell in our past sin, it’s also important to remember our history. We should compare our lives now to our B.C. (Before Christ) days. We should continually remember the amazing work God performed in transforming us into the people we are today. Why? It illustrates God’s power. It reminds us how much He cares about us.

Because of Paul’s wretched and embarrassing history, his testimony illustrated God’s grace, love, and power. It all comes back to God.

Think about how far you have come. Think about the transformation God performed inside of you. It’s a history worth proclaiming.
