“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” — 2 Timothy 1:6-7

Answering the Bell

Subbed on for his LA Galaxy debut only six minutes before, and with his team trailing 3-2, Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw LAFC goalie Tyler Miller was out of his net. From close to midfield, Ibrahimovic caught the ball perfectly, firing it past Miller and into the net to tie the game. Ibrahimovic would go on to score again, giving the Galaxy an unforgettable 4-3 win in the first-ever matchup between the two Los Angeles clubs.

Two things stood out to me about Ibrahimovic’s incredible introduction to Major League Soccer. First, it took him a matter of moments to change the game. Second, he wasn’t afraid to try something ambitious and believed he could pull it off.

God calls us to have an instant impact too. The time to share the Gospel and love others is now! We should live our lives with a sense of urgency and immediacy.

When God calls us, we can’t be afraid to say yes. Going outside our comfort zone is a good thing and helps develop our faith. Part of being a Christian is a willingness to take risks and live boldly for Christ. God can do amazing things through us, but we have to place our trust in Him and Him alone.

The next time an opportunity presents itself, don’t hesitate to answer God’s call!
