“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song.” — Psalm 28:7
Following God’s Lead
I went from coaching college tennis to building tennis courts. Many times I found myself alone on a project that almost seemed impossible to complete. How would I begin to think about seeing the project finished?
There were days of hard work in the hot sun, holes to dig using hand tools, concrete to mix and transport even thought it was too hard to get at places, fence and net posts to set, paint to mix and apply, walking miles back and forth with hand-held rubber squeegees, and light fixtures to install (and I wasn’t too crazy about heights).
My athletic background helped with a never-give-up attitude, but my greatest help came from the Lord as I would break out singing, “Yes, Lord, yes to Your will and to Your way. I say yes, Lord, yes I will trust you and obey. When Your spirit speaks to me, with my whole heart I’ll agree, and the answer will be yes, Lord, yes!”
The Lord always directed, provided and protected through the completion of each project for more than 20 years. What is it that you are fearful of or haven’t yet given to the Lord? Whatever it is, give it to Him and see what He will do.
