“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.” — Revelation 4:11
Walk-On Status
“I just want to be a part of the university,” said Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger.
Rudy was the ultimate walk-on. He had a dream to play football for the University of Notre Dame. Against his physical “limitations,” against the constant ridicule from family and friends, he pressed on.
He sacrificed everything. He didn’t dream about being a star. He knew well the gifts and talents God had given him, but he dreamed about running out of that tunnel and being on the sidelines. He was so excited to just to make the team. It wasn’t about publicity, it was about being a part of something great.
As Christians, we are not the stars of this world. We are the walk-ons. We are part of the game, part of the plan, but we are not THE plan. It is for God’s glory, not for our own, that we put in the blood, sweat and tears. We do what we do to exemplify Him.
Do you have one-tenth of the heart Rudy did to work so that you can be a part of something bigger than yourself? Will you give glory, honor and power to the One it is due?
