“An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord was shining around them. And the shepherds were very afraid. ‘Don’t be afraid. I have some very good news for you — news that will make everyone full of joy. Today your Savior was born in David’s town. He is Christ, the Lord'” — Luke 2:9-11

If social media was present on the day Jesus was born, you would think the Associated Press, Twitter, Facebook and every other digital platform would be abuzz that the King had arrived. The greatest announcement of all-time. The breaking news of any breaking news in the history of mankind.

But this wasn’t the case. God instead sent his angels to tell shepherds — of all people — that Jesus has been born. The greatest case of foreshadowing ever recorded. The lowest form of society at that time was being told of the joy they were about to experience. It wasn’t the religious scholars or the elite that were told first, but the shepherds.

By announcing Jesus’ birth to them, God was demonstrating His love for every one of us. He exhibited that His grace can reach anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Let’s take in the joy daily that Christ was not only born, but lives inside of us. There’s no greater feeling than that.
