“I have much more to say to you, but I don’t want to do it with paper and ink. For I hope to visit you soon and talk with you face to face. Then our joy will be complete.” — 2 John 1:12

Face To Face

Our lives are busy. We have deadlines, responsibilities, jobs, maybe kids, activities, etc. Yes, our time is limited but what we purposely do with it can make a massive shift in our hearts.

Face-to-face time with people has become a fleeting thought. With all the technology at our fingertips, we can seamlessly get “caught up” at any moment with somebody. But as great as these tools are, the in-person conversation will never be replaced as the greatest means to connect with someone.

John highlights the fact that our “joy will be complete” by spending time talking face to face. I believe the joy that resides in our hearts, the gift Jesus has freely given us, is expanded when people meet face to face. Something special happens when two or more are gathered. His presence is always there.

As a practical challenge this week, that Google chat convo, that Skype check-in, that text thread with your friends, let’s intentionally make the time to meet with them. The length of time doesn’t matter, but the time you make will. If it means getting up earlier to meet for coffee, do it. If you need to stay up a bit later and catch up, make it happen. People need these moments and, quite honestly, so do we.

Have an amazing week and see others face to face.
