“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

Hang On

Back in the fall of 2017, we interviewed CBS Radio host Amy Lawrence on our podcast, and as I do with most podcast interviews, I concluded our conversation with the question, “What is the Lord teaching you right now?” Her answer was one that made me think long and hard about our own lives and how we live them.

She said, “It’s about hanging on for dear life to a God who has promised you that everything is going to work out for your good. He is everything.”

For me, I had to ask myself this very question: “Do I really believe that everything is going to work out for my good?”

That’s a hard thing to grasp when life is coming at you like a giant truck and you feel like crawling under the covers and crying. But there is good news.

As Amy said, God promises in Romans 8:28 that He will work together all things for the “good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

That is the news we cling to. We must truly hang on for dear life to that promise in a world that will try to keep us locked in its grip. Cling to the promise of the cross, the promise of good, the promise of hope, the promise of new life in Jesus.
