“Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The Lord is the everlasting God; He created all the world. He never grows tired or weary. No one understands His thoughts. He strengthens those who are weak and tired. Even those who are young grow weak; young people can fall exhausted. But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.” — Isaiah 40:28-31 (GNT)

Strength in the Lord

Some days we are just weary. In some seasons of life we are just weary. Sometimes there is a reason for it and sometimes we just feel weary and drained for no apparent reason, or because of a cumulative effect.

Maybe you are in this place now or you have been in the past. I don’t think this weariness being referred to is a physical tiredness. I think it is a weariness of the soul, which can also affect our physical bodies.

There is good news for all of us though! We don’t have to rely on our own strength. Our human strength has limits, but as believers, our source of strength is in the Lord and He has an unlimited supply. It’s when we lean into Him that He renews our strength. Not just a supernatural zap of strength that we receive, or like a shot of B12 that wears off. It is a strength being continually renewed that we receive when we lean on Him and trust Him.

I love the word picture of soaring on wings like eagles. Think about how that would feel to soar through the sky like a strong eagle.  That’s what He has promised you. Let’s soar together on wings like eagles as we trust in the Lord and find our strength being continually renewed.
