“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2a

Renew

Football is back. It’s the most wonderful time of the year if you’re a football fan. The NFL returns this week, college football just finished up its first week, and many high school teams have already begun their seasons as well.

This time of year always sends a reminder to football fans that we get a do-over. It’s a new season. We all can cheer for our teams knowing that we have a blank slate. A new opportunity.

In Romans 12, the Apostle Paul writes about the importance of not adapting to the patterns of this world but allowing our minds to be transformed by renewing them each day.

This is a great encouragement to us as followers of Christ to remember that no matter what happened in our past, we are made new each day with Christ. And by renewing our minds, we can be transformed by the Lord.

So today, remind yourself that God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins so we can be made new — both now and forever.
