“For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.” — Hebrews 13:14 (NLT)

What Counts For Christ

I recently traveled to Miami, Fla., for a high school baseball scouting showcase. The flight to Miami was relaxing and enjoyable. It was nice to stay in one of the most prestigious resorts in South Florida with all the comforts and amenities anyone would enjoy.

However, as nice as it was for five days, my mind was always thinking about how things were back at home, and I looked forward to getting back to my “humble abode” and sleeping in my own bed again.

In a similar way, as a follower of Christ, the Bible says the world we live in is just temporary. It is not our final home.

We live on this earth for a brief period of time compared to the span of eternity, and when we die, God takes us to our permanent home in Heaven to be with Him for eternity. What a great day that will be. Yes indeed, it will good to be “home.”

I encourage you to live life with the end in mind. Think long term, not short term. Leave a legacy that will far outlive you.

Like the saying goes, Life on earth will soon pass … only what counts for Christ will last.
