“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” — Galatians 5:1

Live In Freedom

During this time of uncertainty, I’ve caught myself a few times getting worried and fearful. In essence, I forget that I have the Prince of Peace living in me and He desires to speak His perfect Peace to my worry and stress. But I have to give those worries and fears to Him. I don’t know why I have to be reminded so often that my life is easier when I practice this, but I do.

It makes me think of the Israelites wandering in the desert. They frequently forgot the Lord, who had led them out of slavery, and they asked to go back. What? That doesn’t even make any sense. Why would they want to go back into slavery? But when I think about my own journey, it’s actually not that much different than that of the Israelites. I often forget the Lord, who led me out of my slavery to worry and fear, and I go back to it.

Galatians 5:1 tells us, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” I don’t have to be a slave again to worry and fear, but it’s my own choice to not fall victim to those traps. I can live in freedom, not slavery, because Jesus Christ came to set us free!
