“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” — Joshua 1:8
Success Measured God’s Way
How do athletes measure success? Is success measured purely in wins and losses? What if an individual has an incredible game, but the team loses? How do you measure whether or not your life is a success in your relationship with God?
I am so grateful our Heavenly Father has not put us on the performance treadmill in our relationship with Him. We don’t have to perform in order to gain God’s favor. We already have His favor because we are His children when we place our trust in Jesus for salvation. He measures success way differently than how the world measures success. The world says success is about wins and losses, your paycheck, or how nice your car or house is. God’s economy is much different.
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” — Joshua 1:8
In this verse, God had just handed the mantle of leadership over the Israelite nation to Joshua from Moses. Can you imagine the pressure Joshua felt in this moment? God encourages Joshua to “be strong and very courageous” several times in this book, then gives him this instruction from Joshua 1:8: Follow My Word and you will have success.
The same holds true for us today!
