As a coach, I’ve seen it time and again: players with talent and potential who stall out because they aren’t coachable. They resist instruction, ignore direction, and rely on their own instincts instead of trusting the process. Why? Because deep down, they think they know better. They don’t trust that the coach has their growth in mind.

It’s the same with us and God.

When we resist what God is asking of us, we may not say it out loud, but our actions reveal our mindset: “God, I don’t trust Your way. I think mine is better.” We cling to our personal preferences, our timing and our plans while refusing to surrender control. But that resistance doesn’t just slow our growth; it hardens our hearts and hinders the spiritual transformation God desires to do in us.

God is the ultimate Head Coach. He sees the end from the beginning. He knows our potential, our weaknesses, and what it takes to shape us into who we were created to be. He knows the purposes and plans He ordained for us before we were born. But He also honors our free will. If we refuse to be led, He won’t force it.

Trusting God doesn’t always feel natural. It requires humility to say, “I don’t see the full picture, but I believe You do.” Surrender is not weakness, it’s wisdom. It’s the posture of someone who wants to grow.

Today, choose to trust Him fully and without conditions. The process is shaping you for something greater than you can ever ask, imagine, or even think.
