God is always good, but life sucks sometimes. That’s not being negative; it’s just the reality of this fallen world. However, don’t get stuck there.

As a two-time widow, I know how harsh this truth can be. Unfortunately, so do you. Some athletes are working tirelessly toward a starting position while others are fighting for a scholarship to ease the financial burden. Coaches are stressing out over their team’s performance because their job is on the line. Trials and tribulations greet us all, but God still provides.

Many times, we lose perspective because we try to play God’s role. We use our limited human logic to map out events we think should happen. In doing so, we run in circles trying to make sense of it all. Save yourself the trouble. Understand that God’s ways are superior to ours; His thoughts are better. Our human minds want to comprehend “why” and “how,” but God wants us to just trust that He knows best.

Our faith is built when we step into the unknown. Trusting God requires faith, which violates every one of our senses, so it never makes sense. Remember that God is the author of your life — not you, your parents, your coach or the haters who keep reminding you of your horrible performances. Trust God while you’re weeping in the valley, and also while you’re rejoicing on the mountaintop.

How can you trust God more? How can Proverbs 3:5-6 and Isaiah 55:8 (above) help you build a stronger foundation?
