“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Unlike the NBA, not all of the G League teams have a team chaplain and team chapel. In the NBA, it is common to get the visiting team’s players and coaches to come to chapel (60 minutes before every game), but in the G League, it is rare because not all the teams have a pregame rhythm of attending chapel.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce, the G League team of the Miami Heat, recently came to play the Iowa Wolves. At the pregame chapel, four of the Skyforce players showed up. (You could say they showed up in force.) Toward the end of chapel, one of the Skyforce players said, “The four of us hold each other accountable.” Another Skyforce teammate then said, “We encourage one another. We try to keep one another focused on God.”
I encouraged them to keep it up and told them there were several NBA teams that had groups of teammates who would hold one another accountable. When I was the team chaplain for the Houston Rockets, I remember the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors would have a consistent contingent of teammates who would attend chapel together and hold one another accountable. They practiced Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, where it states that “two are better than one” and “a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Do you have Christian teammates, coworkers or classmates that you can form an accountability group with? Put one together as soon as possible. Encourage one another. Study the Bible together. Confess sin to one another. The Christian life wasn’t meant to be lived alone.
— Ikki Soma, Iowa Wolves chaplain
