GET IN THE GAME PODCAST: Israel Del Toro - Air Force Veteran

THIS IS THE GET IN THE GAME PODCAST
WITH SCOTT LINEBRINK

Israel Del Toro is a true example of what perseverance looks like when lived out. While serving with the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan, he was injured by an improvised explosive device and suffered third-degree burns on 80 percent of his body. Realistically, he should have died. But he survived, and eventually re-enlisted in the Air Force despite being considered 100-percent disabled.

He had previously served as a master sergeant in the Air Force, and his story of perseverance continues to be an inspiration for so many people. In 2006, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and at the 2017 ESPY Awards, and he was presented with the Pat Tillman Award, named in honor of the former NFL player who was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.

Scott Linebrink met Del Toro — or “DT” as he’s better known by those close to him — through Wounded Warrior events, and the two have maintained a friendship ever since. Today on the podcast, they talk about DT’s incredible story and his heart for service.
