THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING MONTY WILLIAMS
Monty Williams is entering his third season as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns. In 2020-21, he led the Suns to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1993, and he finished second behind Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau for the NBA’s Coach of the Year award.
Prior to his time in Phoenix, Williams spent five years as the head coach in New Orleans (2010-2015) and was an assistant in Portland (2005-2010), Oklahoma City (2015-16) and Philadelphia (2018-19). As a player, he was a first-round draft pick by the New York Knicks back in 1994. He went on to play 10 seasons with the Knicks, Spurs, Nuggets, Magic and 76ers before retiring after the 2002-03 season.
Today on the podcast, we talk to Williams about success, humility, the 2021 NBA Finals experience, serving others and the legacy he wants to leave.
“He loves me. You go through a time like that and you tend to lose sight of that because you are hurting, but God is good.”@Suns coach Monty Williams https://t.co/bxIkjWqUZ6
