THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING HOMER DREW
Homer Drew is a former college basketball coach who spent 22 years coaching at Valparaiso. He took his program to seven NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen berth in 1998 after his son, Bryce, famously hit a buzzer-beater in the first round to upset Ole Miss.
Homer’s oldest son, Scott, is the Baylor men’s basketball coach, and his younger son, Bryce, is Grand Canyon University’s men’s basketball coach. In 2019, Homer was elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
Today on the podcast, we talk to Homer Drew about his coaching journey, 25-year reflections on “The Shot,” watching his sons coach basketball, and why Christ is who he lives for.
A coach who won more than 600 career games and built Valparaiso into a mid-major power.
