SS PODCAST: Pistons guard Jaden Ivey on his New Year's Day injury, trusting God amidst trials

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST WITH MATT FORTE & JASON ROMANO, FEATURING JADEN IVEY

Jaden Ivey is in his third NBA season with the Detroit Pistons. He was selected fifth overall by Detroit in the 2022 NBA Draft and was named to the NBA All-Rookie second team in 2023.

Through 30 games in 2024-25, Ivey was averaging a career-high 17.6 points per game, and on Dec. 26 hit a game-winning four-point play to help Detroit beat Sacramento, 114-113. On Jan. 1, however, Ivey suffered a broken fibula. He underwent a successful surgery the next day and is expected to miss the remainder of the NBA regular season.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Jaden Ivey, just days after his injury, about how his recovery is going and trusting God in the highs and lows of life. Ivey emphasizes that true fulfillment comes from a relationship with Jesus, not from worldly success, and he encourages others, no matter their circumstances, to share the love of Christ in their lives.
