OneCoach: Coaching Anyone

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
—2 Timothy 1:5-7

I’ve had the opportunity to coach soccer, basketball and baseball at many different levels and I thoroughly enjoyed all of those experiences. As a coach you have the opportunity to impact young men and women and help them value life far more than any sport.

One story about the Auburn University football team really impacted me. The team chaplain helped mold players into strong men of God. It was reported that some players were baptized and gave their testimony at a local church. Do you think that could have happened without Godly leadership?

As coaches, you have tremendous opportunities to pass on your positive leadership to players, who then can pass it on to players they coach one day.

We don’t have to be coaches to impact lives. We have opportunities to teach and pass things on to many generations on a daily basis, whether we’re coaches or doing something else in the workplace.

Take the opportunity to pour into lives by teaching and empowering people to be more like Jesus so they will pass it on to generations to come.
