Redskins Josh Norman takes out full page newspaper ad to help South Carolina churches

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman is one of the most vocal players in the NFL. He was an All-Pro cornerback in 2015 with the Carolina Panthers and in 2016, signed a 5-year contract for $75 million ($50 million guaranteed).

The success he’s had on the field is now carrying over to wanting to help others off the field.

On Wednesday, Norman took out a full page ad in his local hometown newspaper in Greenwood, South Carolina, pledging to help the churches in his area.

Norman took out a full-page ad in Greenwood’s Index-Journal asking every church in the town to send him a letter.

“This season, God has laid it on my heart as a servant of the crown to reach out and touch every church in Greenwood, SC with my tithes and offering of love and peace,” Norman wrote. “It is my wish that everyone in your place of worship be touched by this blessing and I’ve been blessed by and now giving unto you.”

He asked for all requests to be delivered by Dec. 12 to 21300 Redskins Park Drive in Ashburn, Virginia. The ZIP code is 20147.

He went on to write: “I will read through each one and get back to you all respectfully. I truly thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being that beacon of hope to look up to and strive for greatness in your teachings and vessels on earth to reach our Father who is in heaven.”

He ended his message with the Bible verse from Romans 12:13: “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

Norman, 29, played for Greenwood High School and attended Coastal Carolina University before being drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Next up for Norman and the Redskins, a trip to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Thursday Night November 30th.
