NEW PODCAST: Rachel Baribeau, SiriusXM's ESPNU Radio Host

THIS IS EPISODE 41 OF THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST

As the south’s sweetheart of sports, Rachel Baribeau has been dubbed an “SEC-ologist” as she has covered the SEC, and college football, for over ten years. In fall of 2015, she was bestowed a Heisman vote by the Heisman Trust. These days can be heard on SiriusXM’s ESPNU Radio. She was the first female host on that platform. She can also be heard on MadDog Sports Radio, in the SiriusXM family of Networks.

Her heartfelt, and captivating storytelling is also featured on http://GridironNow.com.

Outside of her broadcast work, Baribeau may put down the microphone but chooses to pick up a megaphone and rally others for the causes in her community. In April of 2014, she organized a climb up Kilimanjaro for former NFL, and Alabama, fullback Kevin Turner, who suffers from ALS. The climb was later turned into a movie narrated by Mike Ditka. For more information on how to get involved in finding a cure for ALS, or to see the movie, visit KevinTurnerFoundation.org.

Rachel is also an avid speaker at many colleges and churches, sharing her story on “Changing the Narrative.”

@Regrann from @cothtv – Lean in, I’d like to tell you a story, a story of redemption and a love so fierce it will take your breath away. The girl in this picture, me, wasn’t always so whole, so complete in the Lord. In fact, I was broken. I had holes in my heart, issues with abandoment, so I tried to fill it with all the things of the world, including men. I was saved at a church camp when I was just a teenager. I literally told GOD, “I’m not going down to that altar call, no GOD, nuh-uh,” as I white-knuckled the pew in front of me. But it was if I was transported, pulled by a gravitational force, down the aisle to give my young heart to Jesus. That started the greatest love affair I have ever known. Fast forward to my 20’s. I was living my life in such a way that the devil did not have to torment me, I was doing just fine on my own. The more I did it my way, the emptier I became. And in all of my iniquity, there was still beauty and his name was, and is, Jesus. He never stopped calling for me. Telling me, “sweet daughter of mine, I created you for more than this.” I rededicated my life to GOD in my late 20’s and another chapter began, my WHOLE life with Jesus. Through signs and wonders (seriously) and my quiet time with him, HE showed me that he wanted me to wait, yes, I mean wait for marriage. That in Him, I was a new creature in Christ, without spot or blemish, washed white as snow. My sins were forgiven and cast out in the sea (Micah 7:19). This has not been an easy road to walk. I have struggled mightily, because, hello, I am human, but I know that obedience in the cornerstone of my faith. I have also been mocked and ridiculed for my decision, and that is ok, because I know that GOD has called me for a time such as this. HE has set me apart as holy, literally. (Deu.14:2) HE did a miracle in me and HE WILL DO IT AGAIN in you, if you let HIM. HE is there waiting, knocking, asking you to go on the greatest adventure with HIM. -Rachel Joy Baribeau Want to experience life change like I did? SIT WITH ME!
