OneCoach: The Reason We Live

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” — 1 Corinthians 3:6-7

When former N.C. State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow passed away, evidence of her influence was seen during a 20-minute video she made before she passed away. The video, which was shown at her funeral, showed Yow giving a clear presentation of the Gospel.

One of the stories she shared was about a lady with Campus Crusade for Christ who came by Yow’s office when Yow first became coach at N.C. State. The lady tried countless times to get Yow to allow her to talk to the team so she could share Christ with them. But Yow kept putting her off. Eventually, Yow gave in and let the lady meet with the team.

In the video, Yow talked about that meeting and the phone call she received from the lady later that night. The lady was so excited even though only one person received Christ, because that one person was Yow.

When you think someone doesn’t care what you have to say, remember that God is still working. It’s His desire to see people come to Him (2 Peter 3:9). Also remember that Christ only asked us to share (Mark 16:15). Salvation is given by God (1 Corinthians 3:7). So, when it looks bleak, keep praying and keep sharing.
