“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really know Me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.” — John 14:6-7

The Only Way

During broadcasts of sporting events, commentators will occasionally use something a player did as an example for younger athletes to follow. Youth coaches and parents will do the same thing, encouraging kids to get into the same good habits as their favorite star athlete.

Anyone who’s been involved in sports has probably tried some form of this strategy at one point or another, myself included. We try to take positive things we see and use them as a learning tool to better ourselves or people around us.

John makes it very clear in his gospel that if we want to know what God is like, all we have to do is look at Jesus. We don’t have to wonder about the characteristics of God because He sent His Son to come and show us. Our understanding of who God is should be built upon Jesus and the way He lived during His time on earth.

There is only one path to God and that path is Jesus. He should be the center of our lives and everything else should reinforce that. At the end of the day, nothing can compare to Christ and our personal relationship with Him. Jesus is the only way to God and the embodiment of who He is.
