“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9 ESV

I want you to imagine what it would look like if the lights were not turned on in the arena for a professional hockey game. Think about how it would feel to be in attendance, unable to see the action on the ice. There would be an incredible amount of frustration in the unknown. You might feel afraid. The players on the ice would be skating around in the darkness with great hindrance for what they are trying to accomplish.

Now, this is an odd visual that is not probable, but this is exactly how the enemy works and draws us to sin. Sin thrives in the darkness. It robs us of our joy and makes God seem distant from us. It can make us feel unworthy to approach our Heavenly Father.

How is the bondage of sin broken? By bringing it to light through confessing to others.

The sin that entangles us cannot thrive in the healing and cleansing light. That light comes from God through our confession to others.

Is there a specific sin from which you need liberation? Call a friend, family member or pastor. Call someone and confess your sin to them. I promise that the temporary discomfort of confession will bring you incredible peace through the forgiveness that comes from God.

Just as an arena can be brought to peace by turning the lights on, light can be brought into your life through confession.

Brothers and sisters, trust God today and receive His forgiveness by confessing to someone today. God bless you and have a joyful day!
