One of our church’s associate pastors was a civil engineer before entering into ministry. The engineering company he worked for was being sued by a family that lost a family member in a tragic construction accident. In this civil case, he was called as a witness and had to give his testimony. He talked about the blueprints he saw and reviewed. He shared about what he heard at meetings. He didn’t have to be creative and make anything up; he only shared what he saw, heard and experienced.

In Acts 1:8, Jesus says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Empowered by the Holy Spirit that lives inside every believer, we are to be Christ’s witnesses. And we are to be His witnesses wherever we go, even to the most remote parts of the earth.

Like a witness in a courtroom, we simply share what we’ve seen, heard and experienced as a follower of Jesus. We are to testify about Jesus — what He has done for us, how He forgave us, how He has changed us.

So today, pray for an opportunity to testify. And remember: Witnessing isn’t something we do, it is who we are. We are Christ’s witnesses. Wherever you go today, be His witness. Tell others what you’ve seen, heard and experienced.
