“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” — 1 John 4:16

There is a Scripture passage I personally read nearly every week of my life because it instructs me about the literal personality of God. The Bible tells us that “God is love” in 1 John 4:16. This passage describes God in a manner no other passage does and the true personality behind real love. There is one line in the passage that simply amazes me each and every time I read it:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” — 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-5‬

There it is. Because God loves as no one else in the universe can love, He “keeps no record of wrongs.”

He is the ultimate teacher of forgiveness. He not only does not remember your sin, He does not associate you with your sin. If we ask for His forgiveness in reverence for who He is, He forgives so thoroughly you are seen as blameless in His eyes (Ephesians 1:4). Our Heavenly Father will do anything to save us and restore us.

I close these thoughts with this Scripture passage: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm ‭103:11-12)‬.

His love gives us life and restores our dignity eternally. It doesn’t get any better than that!
