During a summer-league basketball championship game, a player was having a very difficult afternoon. He did not start the game, only played eight minutes and missed all three shots he took, except for one free throw. The player was frustrated and angry, to say the least.

Known as an excellent shooter, he was inserted into the game with two seconds left, the score tied at 91, and his team throwing the ball inbounds along the sideline in the frontcourt. As the play developed, the player caught the ball on the run, turned and shot with a hand in his face — and hit the 3-point jumper to win the game, 94-91, for his team.

In those two seconds, the whole afternoon for that player changed. He went from angry and frustrated to satisfied and celebrated. Those two seconds changed his day.

Two seconds can also change your life. A poor, impulsive decision can change your life for the worst. A reckless decision or choice can ruin your life as well as someone else’s. However, a good decision can impact the remainder of your life for good. A positive choice can influence you and others for the better.

The courage to make a decision for Christ will change you and others for eternity. Heed the exhortation of Ephesians 5:16 and make the most of your time in all of your decisions, thoughts and actions.
