TABLE FORTY PODCAST: Discipleship Handbook Week 4 - The Problem of Sin

THIS IS THE TABLE FORTY PODCAST
WITH MATT AND LESLEE HOLLIDAY

How do you define sin?

The word “sin” in the Bible means to miss the mark or fail to fulfill a certain goal. On a fundamental level, sin is failing to love and honor God and others as we were designed to. It distorts our view of God.

Sin is not just doing bad things (that is the fruit of sin), it goes deeper into the root of our hearts. Sin is a fundamental disorientation of our hearts turned away from God. It deadens our hearts and blinds our eyes to God and all His goodness and beauty. Sin is the selfish impulse to serve ourselves first, even at the expense of others.

This week on “Table Forty,” Matt and Leslee Holliday move on to Week 4 of the “Discipleship Handbook,” a 10-week plan from The Increase that examines some of the most important topics encompassing what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus. This week’s focus is on the problem of sin.
