On a recent visit to my dentist, I found out that my dental hygienist is also a mixed martial arts fighter. After she gets off work, she goes to a local gym to train. She was a successful high school athlete and began training in MMA with her boyfriend.

I watched her debut fight on YouTube. The same young lady that cleans my teeth was now cleaning clocks. The same person who scrapes plaque from my teeth was now scraping another fighter’s face on the mat.

My dental hygienist also told me that she recently got baptized — she made a public declaration of her faith in Jesus Christ. So she may be a full-time dental hygienist and a part-time MMA fighter, but she is an “all the time” follower of Jesus Christ. At the dentist’s office, in the cage, at home, or at the store, she is a witness for Jesus (Acts 1:8, above).

Have you placed your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior? Have you been baptized? Baptism is a way for you to publicly say that you are a follower of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism shows that you were buried with Christ and raised to new life in Him.

If you haven’t been baptized, tell your pastor or sports ministry leader that you want to get baptized. And if you have been baptized, remember that like my dental hygienist, you are an all-the-time follower of Christ, on and off the court or field.
