“Therefore, since we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” — Hebrews 12: 1-2a

Running the Race

One of my favorite things about sports is that it’s a journey requiring hard work and sacrifice. When a team or individual wins a championship, they often reflect on everything it took to get to that point. It’s the early morning workouts in the offseason, the grind of the regular season, and the overcoming of adversity that make becoming a champion even more meaningful. The best athletes are usually the ones who enjoy the process as much as the end result.

Just like sports, Christianity is also a journey. We are constantly learning and growing as we continue our walk with God. There are going to be mistakes along the way, but the key is staying focused on Jesus. When it gets difficult, we can persevere through the love and grace of Christ and continue running our race.

As we run our race, it’s also important to make sure we’re enjoying it and not just waiting to get to the finish line. We can savor our relationship with God and give thanks to Him when we see the work He’s doing in our lives. Run a race focused solely on Jesus and have fun along the way. Enjoy the process!
