“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name” — Psalm 100:4

Live Out Thanksgiving All Year

Today is Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday. A time to gather together with friends and family and eat lots of food, watch football, hang out and maybe even sneak in a nap.

It’s also a great reminder for us to remember how blessed we are and give thanks for all that we have in our lives.

But when we look at Scripture, the Bible says that thanksgiving is a way of life, not just a day we celebrate each November.

In the English Standard Version of the Bible, the word “thanksgiving” is mentioned 38 times. The concept of “thanks” comes up 102 times in the Old Testament, and 71 times in the New Testament. God must believe this is a pretty important thing for us to instill into our lives.

Let’s all remember on this Thanksgiving Day what we are thankful for, but also look to create a posture in our lives to live out thanksgiving, both to Jesus and to others. Think of who Jesus is, and what He has done for us at the cross. Wake up each morning thanking God for sending His Son for us, and through Him we can spend eternity in Heaven. And live thanksgiving out for the rest of our lives on this earth.

Happy Thanksgiving!
