Getting to know Jesus is not only possible, but essential for you to become everything God has called you to be, and to discover the main purposes for which He designed you to live.

In Luke 24, after Jesus’ resurrection, He pulled up alongside two discouraged disciples headed home on the road to Emmaus. They didn’t even recognize Him at first. But what did Jesus do? He didn’t perform a miracle. Instead, He opened the Scriptures: “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself” (v. 27). He showed them that the entire Bible centers around Him.

Genuine encounters with Jesus are grounded in the Word, not merely in emotional highs or significant moments. If you truly want to know Jesus, you must meet Him in the Scriptures. After His resurrection, He also appeared to His 11 apostles. Luke 24:45 tells us, “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” This was essential if they were to really know and understand the resurrected Christ and be His witnesses and disciples going forward.

Here’s the truth: Disappointment dims your eyes, but Scripture will ignite your soul. Sunday-morning feelings fade, but God’s Word stands forever. Don’t settle for a surface-level Jesus. Get to know the real Jesus — the One the Bible reveals — as God Almighty in flesh, the Promised Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29)!

When you open the Word, Jesus is ready to meet you there through His Spirit. Get to know Him and your life will never be the same.
