GET IN THE GAME PODCAST: Yan Gomes - MLB Catcher

THIS IS THE GET IN THE GAME PODCAST
WITH SCOTT LINEBRINK

Yan Gomes has the unique distinction of being the first Brazilian-born major league player. He moved to the United States when he was in fifth grade, living in Miami until he left to play baseball at the University of Tennessee. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 39th round of the 2008 MLB Draft and has put together an 11-year major league career. He’s currently with the Chicago Cubs and was with the Oakland Athletics prior to that.

After making his major league debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012, he spent the next six seasons in Cleveland and made the All-Star team in 2018, his final season with the club. He spent the next two-and-a-half seasons with the Washington Nationals, where he was a member of the 2019 World Series championship team.

This week on “Get in the Game,” he talks with Scott Linebrink about his baseball career and leading by faith in the clubhouse.

“Get in the Game” is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network.
