SS PODCAST: Orioles pitcher John Means on injuries, no-hitters, growing in his faith

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING JOHN MEANS

John Means is a pitcher with the Baltimore Orioles, who selected him in the 11th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in September 2018 against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, and in 2019 won 12 games and was named to the American League All-Star team.

In 2021, Means was selected to be Baltimore’s opening day starting pitcher. On May 5, 2021, he threw a no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners, striking out 12 while facing the minimum of 27 batters. In 2022, Means only pitched two games before undergoing Tommy John surgery. He returned late in 2023 to help the Orioles reach the postseason and win the AL East.

Today on the podcast, John Means shares about the growth he’s made in his walk with Jesus, the excitement around the Orioles, trusting in God in the highs and lows of baseball, and the experience of playing in an All-Star Game and throwing a no-hitter.
