College Football Game of the Week: Bedlam Game

The Bedlam Game has more on the line this year then ever before as Oklahoma travels to Stillwater to face Oklahoma State. Both teams have lost a game in the Big 12, and another defeat will end any hopes of being included in any College Football Playoff discussion.

Oklahoma has won four out the last five match ups at Boone Pickens Stadium. Who will take home the “Bedlam Bell?”

Jason Romano: No. 11 Oklahoma State 44 – No. 8 Oklahoma 41 – One of the best rivalries in college football also features two high scoring offenses. This will be a shootout that I think favors the Cowboys by a hair. OSU takes this one.

UPSET (OSU -19): Iowa 30 – No. 6 Ohio State 27 – Call it more of a gut call than anything, but the Buckeyes in on a major high after beating Penn State last week, and I think a letdown is in store. The Hawkeyes only loss at home this year was a 2 point game to Penn State. I expect them to play well and come away with the upset.

Justin Adams: No. 8 Oklahoma 45 – No. 11 Oklahoma State 35 – Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph. Does it get any better than that? But my eyes will be on Oklahoma’s defense which has allowed at least 24 points in every conference game this year. So why stick with the Sooners? The way they played against Ohio State earlier this year and holding Texas Tech’s high-flying Texas Tech offense to 27 points. I expect similar performance from the Cowboys on the road.

UPSET (WVU -2.5): No. 14 Iowa State 23 – West Virginia 17 – Guess who leads the Big 12? The Cyclones after their 14-7 victory over TCU. In that game, Iowa State picked off TCU QB Kenny Hill twice and I see the Cyclones making life tough for West Virginia’s Will Grier as well.

Jon Ackerman: No. 8 Oklahoma 41, No. 11 Oklahoma State 38 – These are two of the biggest offensive juggernauts in the nation, so it figures to be a shootout. But OU owns this rivalry.

UPSET (MIA -1.0):  No. 13 Virginia Tech 24, No. 10 Miami 17 – Only Alabama is allowing fewer points per game than Va. Tech’s 11.5. That could catch the Hurricanes by surprise if they’re looking ahead to No. 3 Notre Dame next week.
